Preparedness ManualChapter V Nuclear Proliferation First a note: This Preparedness Manual chapter in addition to identifying Risk and Solutions, presents a brief overview of the full text found in the full length MMC book. A link to the full ebook is found on the right side of the home page. Due to extremely dynamic conditions which morph daily, updates captioned as 2007 were discontinued in 2008. They were replaced with a subscriber based weekly "MMC's Risk Assessment Report", click here for details.
What is the Nuclear Club? From the close of the cold war until 1998, nuclear proliferation (expansion) appeared to be retrenching. The world was thought to be a safer place, at least from the stand point of nuclear weapons. Former Soviet republics were disarmed as nuclear tipped missiles were brought back to Russia. Other minor independent nations with nuclear programs either closed them or choose to continue their programs in a planning mode. As I write this preview, somewhere close to a dozen nuclear wanna-be nations around the globe are either secretively endeavoring to become a club member or they are making overtures of their aspirations. Several additional club members have been added since 1998. Behind the scenes several nations such as Russia, China and Pakistan are aggressively working to advance the nuclear club with new members. The emerging insanity is frightening and leaders around the world are monitoring the nuclear club issue closely. Perhaps you would like to as well? What Are The TrendsThe numbers of nations showing interest is growing and more significantly, the numbers of terrorist organizations is rapidly growing. One conclusion can be drawn. Mankind is racing toward a point in time, which if he survives, history will note as man's darkest hour. What are the Major Concerns and Threats? Is The US Losing Air Supremacy? It is hard to believe our missile capability is also questionable, but it may be. Recent entrants of military fighter aircraft, as well as new and absolutely remarkable missile technology has taken place by other nations. I recall reading credible articles about both technologies and I remember the gripping fear of vulnerability I felt. I felt as if I were on some level violated. At least over the short term, we may have lost the edge. I have though, complete faith in our industrial abilities (military wise), and expect that we shall emerge on the other side of this window of vulnerability, once again unequaled.
Summation Of Dangers Plus Preparedness Options
Comments: WWIII as suggested above, can start with a small localized conflict between two groups or nations, one of which possesses nuclear capability. Many authorities on the subject openly state, as the nuclear family grows, so does the expectation of an eventual usage of a weapon resulting in WWIII. Therefore Proliferation is a very dangerous process, threatening all citizens of the planet. Limited Nuclear Engagement is also a probability. Some nutbag with a loyal enough group of subordinates, could lose his/her mind momentarily and authorize the use of a nuclear devise. Is real has a last option plan to execute a massive nuclear attack against an enemy that had used a nuclear weapon on Is real. It is feared around the globe that if they were threatened with imminent collapse of their defenses, Is real may resort to at minimum a tactical nuclear strike. Once the monster is loose, it will be hard to put it back in it's cage. Accessibility to nuclear weapons or nuclear fuel, is increased every time a nation joins the nuclear family. At the time of this writing unrest in Pakistan is heating up daily. Being fueled by dissension against the current government lead by President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, the possibility of him losing control and being removed in some fashion is a real threat. Most westerners are not aware that the majority of the population in Pakistan is if not Radical Islam, certainly holds a sympathy to their cause. If the current regime topples, the prospect of a Radical Islamic leader taking command is also real. Since Pakistan has a significant arsenal of nuclear weapons, for them to be controlled by radical Islamic factions presents a ominous danger to the region as well as The west. That's you and me, bubba. Draining Our Nations Wealth is on going as I write. Several carrier task forces are on ready alert duty in the middle east. Their role is to be ready to attack Iran if told to or at the minimum, to offer a presence of force as a message to Iran, that the west means business. So, what so important you ask. Well the whole idea in case you have been sleeping for the past several years, is to prevent Iran from becoming a member of the nuclear family. It is costing the US tax payer billions of dollars a day for those forces to remain on station and in a ready alert status. Access To Fuel for building Dirty Bombs or even detonation bombs by those who would want to do so, is a real threat, as more and more nuclear material is transported and stored as a direct result of proliferation. As the saying goes "it's just a matter of time", before nuclear material is lost or stolen and gets into the hands of a terrorist group. Nuclear Proliferation Preparedness Options: See Chapter VII within this publication for a beginning point in your efforts to protect yourself against a nuclear event. See Chapter IV of this publication for asdditional options to consider in your preparations. Location, Location as they say in real estate, location means everything. Well on the topic of nuclear problems, I think location is really important. My advise is two fold. First find out what nuclear targets might be nearby, big city, military base, nuclear power station etc.. Then I would determine what is located up to 50 miles away. Then examine your regions prevailing winds data. If for example, you have a major city on the so called hit list and you live 50 miles north east and the preponderance of prevailing wind is from their southwest, then guess what? Most of the time you will be in the path of the fallout cloud. If the upper winds are 25mph on the blast day and are coming out of the SW, in two hours radio active dust will be falling right on you - not good!. Figure it out and make a decision on how to protect yourself. Personally, I would have a shelter to run to on my property. It's hard to relocate a home let alone finding new employment. On the other hand if I'm about to move, I sure would consider location before I made an offer. Equipment to use in determining current threat over time is essential to have. There is info within this publication [see Chpt VII] and a lot more on our members site. Education is a real important ingredient in surviving a nuclear even in your area. Learn as much as you can and make sure your family knows the essentials. There is no excuse not to survive, unless at ground "zero", but you have to know what to do, have a plan, have protection and the sense to react fast enough.
